How to get to Debrecen?

Debrecen is located in eastern Hungary, about 230 km from Budapest. It is easily accessible by plane, train or car.

By Air

Debrecen International Airport (DEB) offers direct flights from several European cities, operated by airlines such as Wizz Air and Lufthansa.
The airport is located about 7 km from the city center and can be reached in 15–20 minutes by taxi or local bus.
From the airport to the city center, take bus line 44 to the Nagyállomás (Main Train Station), then transfer to tram line 1 towards “Egyetem” (University).
Alternatively, taxis are available outside the terminal.

Regular trains connect Budapest and Debrecen several times a day.
Trains depart from Budapest Nyugati pályaudvar (Western Railway Station).
The journey takes approximately 3.0 hours by intercity trains which depart every hour during daytime.
Tickets can be purchased at the station, from ticket machines, or online via the MÁV (Hungarian State Railways) website: https://www.mavcsoport.hu

From Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport (BUD)

From the airport, take bus 200E to Ferihegy Railway Station (the first major stop).

Tickets can be purchased at the station, from ticket machines, or online via the MÁV (Hungarian State Railways) website: https://www.mavcsoport.hu

By Car

Debrecen is accessible from Budapest via the M3 motorway and M35 expressway. When a navigation tool is used, it may offer an alternative route via M4 main road. That option is also feasible. The drive takes approximately 2.5 hours.

How to get to the conference venue?

The conference will take place in the Conference Hall of Nagyerdei Stadium.
The easiest way to get there from the Main Train Station (Nagyállomás) or from the downtown is by taking tram line 1 and getting off at the stop called “Aquaticum”. Alternatively, you can take bus number 10, which stops at “Klinikai Központ Nagyerdei Campus”. From these stop the Stadium is about 3 min walking distance. Both trams and buses depart from (and return to) directly the front of the Main Train Station building.
Paper tickets (valid for both buses and trams) can be purchased inside the Main Train Station building — at the Relay shop located on both the arrival and departure sides — or at the DKV ticket office in front of the station. The price of a paper ticket is 500 HUF (or 650 HUF if bought from the driver), and it must be validated immediately after boarding.
The price of a mobile ticket is 480 HUF, and a 1-hour ticket costs 560 HUF. These can be purchased through the Közlekedési Mobiljegy (Public Transport Mobil Ticket) application (https://mobiljegy.nmzrt.hu/) by scanning the QR code displayed on the vehicle.
More information is available on the DKV Zrt. (https://dkv.hu/en) website. There are also 1-day and 3-day passes, which are also described in detail on the DKV Zrt. website.
